Pediatric Specialty Care Programs

Pulmonary Medicine Program

Our Pulmonary Program for children who are chronically ill, physically fragile or traumatically injured. The program provides care for children who need short-term tracheotomy/ventilator assistance and to those with long-term tracheotomy/ventilator dependencies who will return home.

Our program monitors all of our patients on a 24-hour basis. Patients are placed on a portable ventilator and may receive therapies in one of the facility's living or therapy areas. As children improve, they may receive Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP®) or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) as other forms of ventilation.

Therapeutic Infusion Program

Therapeutic infusion services are offered in a comfortable, home-like setting by trained nurses knowledgeable in infusion policies and infection control in order to optimize clinical effectiveness. Our Therapeutic Infusion Program was started to provide a stable environment and thus,  achieve better outcomes for the patients that it serves. The program is designed to monitor properly administered dosages of IV medications in a safe and controlled setting. Our outcomes are significantly  enhanced due to consistency and continuity of care.

Gastroenterology Program

The Gastroenterology program is designed to give both the child and the family techniques to succeed with new feeding skills and achievement of independence. Patients and their families undergo a comprehensive assessment to determine a treatment plan based on their unique needs. A team of specialists including physicians, speech/language pathologists, psychologists, dietitians, occupational therapists and others work closely together. Our team works to ensure that your child returns home medically stable with healthy eating habits.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program is for children who have had catastrophic injuries, chronic illnesses and other medical issues. Our comprehensive program prepares children to leave the hospital and return home. When children are admitted to the program, they undergo a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team assessment. With this information, the team designs an individualized treatment plan to address the child's specific needs. Our team continually monitors the child's progress to determine if adjustments should be made to his or her treatment.
